at the Sundance Film Festival, Park City UT on the 25th .

  For My Sweet".
April   Capitol release 20 Good Vibrations - The Greatest Hits, spanning the years 1962-66 but
bizarrely also including 1988's "Kokomo" (but still they manage to include the wrong -
album - versions of "Help Me Rhonda" and "Be True To Your School", an error later
rectified). In the wake of the 2000 miniseries, it will peak at #95. Nilsson tribute CD For

alongside a Wilson (C.)/Beckley/Lamm rendition of "Without Her".

June   Melinda becomes Brian's conservator on the 22nd, taking over from Jerome S. Billett.
August   soundtrack of the Don Was-directed documentary of the same name profiling Brian, I
Just Wasn't Made For These Times is released. Essentially a solo album of Brian
recreating some of his classics and lesser-known numbers, it fails to chart in the US but
makes the low 50s in the UK.
fall   Reunited under the aegis of Don Was, Brian and The Beach Boys start cutting tracks for a
proposed reunion album, but after two songs have been roughed out, the project collapses
during a backing vocal session for "Dancin' The Night Away" when Carl walks out.
October   credited to Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks, Orange Crate Art is released, featuring
Brian's vocals on songs (largely) written by Van Dyke. A critical success, it fails to chart.
November   tying in with an appearance on TV show "Baywatch" (which included David Marks and
briefly, Brian), "Summer Of Love" is released, backed by a track from the Baywatch CD.
  It fails to chart.
