Mike & Jacqueline's second child, daughter Ambha Lelia Lakshmi is born on the 4th. The band - including Brian - fly over as guests of Status Quo to appear at the Quo Fan Club gig at Brixton Academy (28th), and also appear on several TV shows promoting the upcoming single. Alan flies home after a few days when one of his sons is injured, followed by Brian, who apparently just got bored. It is noted that Carl appears to be none too well. |

In the UK, "Fun, Fun, Fun" by Status Quo, with the Beach Boys backing and Mike writing a new verse, charts at #24. |

the band, including Brian, perform at the annual country music Fan Fair event in Nashville on the 14th. The majority of the set comprises tracks from their forthcoming album. |

Released on the River North label and co-produced by Brian and Joe Thomas, an ex- wrestler, Stars And Stripes Volume 1 is the result of sessions in which the band act as backing vocalists to country stars performing Beach Boys classics. It hits #101 in the main chart, and makes a respectable showing in the country rankings, peaking in the top 20. Extracted single "Little Deuce Coupe", sung by James House, misses the regular charts but peaks at #69 in the country listings. |

Alan sues Brian over statements made in the 'autobiography'. The case is brought in New Hampshire as time has expired in California (25th). "Don't Worry, Baby", lead vocal by Lorrie Morgan, misses the hot 100 but makes #73 in the country charts. The band play two shows at the Navy Pier in Chicago on the 8th: this will be the last time Brian performs with The Beach Boys for over 16 years (until early 2012). |
