In Europe only, the 9th sees a copyright protection "release" on YouTube of 74 live tracks from 1970. |
February |
Alan releases a CD single, "Waves Of Love 2.0/Jenny Clover". Irving Azoff's brand development and management company, Iconic Artists Group, buys a controlling interest in Brother Records Inc for between $100 and $200 million. On the 26th, a re-recording of "Add Some Music To Your Day" by California Music featuring Mike, Bruce, Alan, David Marks, Jeff Foskett and assorted Wilson & Love family members is released in aid of the Feeding America charity. An album will follow in April. Brian was also invited. |
March |
All the band's rearranged March dates, and all bar one of the rearranged April shows are put back once again, mostly to 2022. |
May |
On the 1st, Mike & Bruce play their first show since November 6th, a charity gig in Dallas. They are set to play further shows later in the month. |
June |
Brian's European tour, already postponed from 2020, is further put back to 2022. Mike & Bruce's European tour is similarly put back again. The much-delayed BW documentary Long Promised Road has its premiere at the TriBeCa Film Festival in NYC: the reviews are glowing. |
August |
Feel Flows 1969-71, a 5CD box set covering the Sunflower & Surf's Up era sessions, is released on the 27th (having been postpopned from July 30th). It's also released as 2CDs, 4LPs, 2LPs and digital download and debuts on the Top 200 album chart at #83 ! Brian plays his first two shows for over eighteen months. |
September |
Brian's show in Cabazon CA is cancelled, reportedly over concerns about the venues Covid proceedures. |
November |
Brian releases a new solo album, At My Piano, on the 19th, and the long-delayed Long Promised Road soundtrack album on the 26th (the latter is download only). On the 23rd, his already twice postponed (from 2020 & 2021) 2022 European tour is further pushed back to 2023 because of scheduling conflicts due to Covid-19. However, a few days later a joint tour with Chicago in the US during the summer of 2022 is announced. Billy Hinsche, long- time BB sideman and Carl's brother in law, dies on the 20th aged 70. His mother Celia (96) dies the same day. |
December |
Mike & Bruce announce European dates for June 2022. Brian sells his songwriting share and termination interest in his catalogue to UMPG for a then-undisclosed $50 million. |
