Club gig at Brixton Academy (28th), and also appear on several TV shows promoting
the upcoming single. Alan flies home after a few days when one of his sons is injured,

  album.
August   Released on the River North label and co-produced by Brian and Joe Thomas, an ex-
wrestler, Stars And Stripes Volume 1 is the result of sessions in which the band act as
backing vocalists to country stars performing Beach Boys classics. It hits #101 in the
main chart, and makes a respectable showing in the country rankings, peaking in the top
  20. Extracted single "Little Deuce Coupe", sung by James House, misses the regular
charts but peaks at #69 in the country listings.
September   Alan sues Brian over statements made in the 'autobiography'. The case is brought in New
Hampshire as time has expired in California (25th). "Don't Worry, Baby", lead vocal by
Lorrie Morgan, misses the hot 100 but makes #73 in the country charts. The band play
two shows at the Navy Pier in Chicago on the 8th: this will be the last time Brian
performs with The Beach Boys for over 16 years (until early 2012).
October   "Long Tall Texan", lead vocal by Doug Supernaw, makes #69 on the country charts.
fall   Virgin approach the band with a proposal for an album (to be co-produced by Brian &
High Llamas supremo Sean O'Hagen), but as the participation of Brian cannot
  guaranteed, the project falls apart.
